Fair Housing Focus: Upheaval Leads to Landmark Law

Three events led to passage of the Fair Housing Act on April 11, 1968: the role of housing in the civil rights push, the Kerner Commission report on urban unrest, and the assassination of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. NAR Director of Broadcasting Stephen Gasque walks through the dynamic events that resulted in the movement to increase housing fairness for all Americans.

Brokers Summit Panel Focuses on Wire Fraud

Wire fraud in Michigan has increased a staggering 4,348% in the past two years. Toxic wire fraud issues continue to get worse. At the recent Michigan Realtors® Broker Summit, panelists Eric Burgoon – Lake Michigan Credit Union, Tom Cronkright – Sun Title Agency, Lisa Scoble – Pearl Insurance and Rebecca Keithley had this advice for attendees:

Michigan Realtors® Scholarship Trust | Applications Due 5.31.18

Michigan Realtors® is proud to provide assistance towards the higher education of future real estate professionals. If you are a college student seeking a career in the real estate field, you may be eligible to receive up to $3,000 in awards. The application deadline is May 31, 2018 for the following academic school year. In 2017, the Michigan Realtors® Scholarship Trust awarded $15,000 in scholarships to Michigan students!

I am a commercial broker. Are the new advertising requirements applicable to the sale of commercial property? 
 
ANSWER:

YES. The law is applicable to any advertisement to buy, sell, exchange, rent, lease or mortgage real property or a business opportunity by a real estate broker. There is no exception for commercial property or commercial brokers.
